Our purpose
Why do we exist? Scripture answers clearly: we are called to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength. We are also commanded to teach others to do the same. Through the great commission, Jesus calls us to make disciples, baptizing and teaching in his name.
The great commission
The mission Jesus gave is not optional but central to our identity as his followers. It defines the way we live, give and serve others.
- We are Christ-centered.
- Everything begins and ends with Jesus.
- He is the image of the invisible God and the head of the church.
- Generosity reflects the Gospel.
- Giving is a natural outflow of God’s generosity to us.
- Our resources, time and care point others to his provision.
- Obedience is not just an action, it is a posture.
- True obedience comes from the heart.
- It is ongoing surrender, not occasional compliance.
- We can be found in the lowest place.
- Jesus humbled himself and calls us to do the same.
- God often works through weakness and humility to reveal his strength.
Ripple effects of faith
Edward Kimball, a Sunday school teacher, led D.L. Moody to Christ. Moody influenced J. Wilbur Chapman, who then mentored Billy Sunday. Sunday inspired Mordecai Ham, whose preaching led to the conversion of a young Billy Graham. From one faithful act, millions around the world heard the Gospel.
Teaching Jesus to kids may be the most important thing you can do.
