Easter

A celebration of Jesus’ inclusive invitation into relationship with God, unpacking the depth of His promise to dwell with and be known by us.

The invitation of Easter

Easter is not about who qualifies. It is about who is invited. Jesus does not narrow the door, He opens it.

The heart behind the cross

  1. Not meant to exclude but to include everyone. (John 14:6)
    • Jesus is the way, not a wall.
    • The invitation is open, not selective.

A home, not a hotel

  1. monai (μοναι) translates to “abodes” or “dwelling places”. (John 14:2, 23)
    • This is about relationship, not real estate.
    • God’s desire is closeness, not distance.

Known, not just noticed

  1. ginōskō (γινώσκω) generally translates to “to know”, “to come to know”, “to recognize” or “to understand”. (John 14:7)
    • This speaks of personal relationship.
    • It is deep, ongoing and growing.

Insight

  • Easter is God moving toward people, not people reaching for God.
  • The cross opens the door, the resurrection keeps it open.
  • Jesus includes where others exclude.
  • God does not want visits, He wants relationship.
  • Being known by God is the goal, not just knowing about Him.
  • The empty tomb is proof that nothing blocks access anymore.
